Our Staff

To contact the Austin Clinic: austin@egoscue.com

The Austin staff is unique. The owners are married to each other and both started as Egoscue clients. Rick had low back pain, and Theresa had neck pain. They not only know how to help you, they truly know what you are going through, having lived with severe, chronic pain themselves.

Rick and Theresa relocated to Austin in 2003 from Thousand Oaks, California after Pete Egoscue asked them if they would like to open the first Egoscue franchise. They chose Austin for many reasons and after more than 7 years of helping people they are still thrilled to be living and working in Central Texas. Says Rick, "The hill country is a very special place, but it's the people that really make Austin special. We're so glad to call Austin our home."

Rick grew up in Tucson, Arizona and graduated from the University of Arizona where he met his wife, Theresa. He held a position at Hughes Aircraft in Tucson for many years before being recruited in 1997 by Western Data Systems/Manugistics in Calabasas, California as a software architect/designer. While living in California, he discovered the Egoscue Method and began frequent seven-hour round-trip visits to the San Diego clinic. Rick had been experiencing chronic, debilitating pain since he was involved in a near-fatal auto accident six years prior. Doctors told him he would never run or play tennis again despite 19 months of physical therapy six times per week. Miraculously, in less than one year, Rick’s pain was gone. He was off all medications and was even back running and playing tennis again without pain. After experiencing how life changing the benefits of Egoscue can be, he became a certified Postural Therapist and opened the first franchised clinic with his wife, Theresa in Austin, Texas in 2003.

After attending her freshman year at Iowa State University, Theresa attended the University of Arizona where she studied business and computers and met her husband, Rick. They have been married since 1984 and have a son, Bryan Joseph, who was born in 1992. They moved to Thousand Oaks, California in 1997 where they worked for the same computer software company, Western Data Systems/Manugistics. Theresa worked in the quality assurance department testing the software. Theresa was surprised to discover that on top of a brain tumor that was discovered in 1990, she also had six herniated discs in her neck, stenosis, as well as spinal cord and nerve damage. She went to Egoscue in San Diego hoping to avoid having her entire neck fused and to get some relief from the claustrophobic, debilitating pain she was experiencing. It took some time but she was not only successful in avoiding the surgery, but was also able to move all the discs back into place and currently has no sign of stenosis and has reversed the spinal cord damage.

Theresa was so moved by what Egoscue was able to do for her that she and her husband went through the training that Egoscue offered and completely changed what they both did for a living. Rick and Theresa opened the first franchised Egoscue clinic on November 3, 2003 in Austin, Texas.
