Here's what some of our clients are saying about our Boulder clinic.
I've tried to stay fit through the years, and yet age has been catching up with me in a number of ways (including scoliosis). I find I need to work at it more just to keep in shape. Moving in certain ways has been an increasing challenge. That is why, when I heard of the Egoscue Method, I was ready to give it a try. Now, I wish I had known of these methods some ten or fifteen years earlier.
I've read the book by Pete Egoscue many times, and I've gotten quite a few eye-opening ideas about the human body and how it can be improved in very innovative ways. But reading and trying isn't all that has helped. Having sessions with a personal trainer is the biggest inspiration of all. Getting help with exact ways to work on my special physical challenges, and discovering the improvements that occur by trying the ideas I learn during each session can be very encouraging. Not only does my body respond in surprising ways, but my morale rises during each Egoscue session so that I can keep up regular practice everyday between appointments.

My experience with the Egoscue Method began one year ago. I was referred to Pete’s book Pain Free through an employee in a health food store. I immediately bought the book however I couldn’t do many of the exercises due to severe pain down the front of my leg from a herniated disc in my back. I also have bulging discs in my neck with cervical stenosis which causes some numbness in my left index and middle fingers. I began my treatment with conventional medical practices in cluding two spinal epidurals and consultations with a surgeon prior to discovering Egoscue.
When I first started treatment with Susan, she had to modify my menu to mostly sitting positions. I couldn’t stand or get on the floor due to pain. I could only sleep 1-2 hours at a time and only on my right side in a fetal position. I would have to sit in a chair for at least a half hour before I could go back to sleep. It hurt to walk or stand more than 2 minutes and all of life’s activities came to a virtual halt.
I am now 99.9% pain free and have resumed an active life style including softball, bicycling, golf, running and hiking all pain free. My sleep patterns and positions have also returned to normal. When I do have pain, it is very mild, sporadic, and short lived. The numbness in my left fingers has decreased as well. It took about 4 months before I could do any menu exercises on my hands and knees or lie on my back. I still have a way to go before my body is completely back in the posture it should be and the proper muscles are being used effectively. Not only can I feel the difference in my body, I can see it as well. The change in my posture through the pictures Susan has taken during the past year is phenomenal.
The Egscue Method of total body therapy and treating the body as an interconnected unit is evident in my situation. The Egoscue Method will benefit those who want to take charge of their body and return to a more functional and actve lifestyle. It won''t fix a totally worn out hip, knee, rotator cuff, etc,. It is not a quick fix nor is it a band-aid solution. It takes a lot of hard work and perseverance. In my case I spend 20-40 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week doing my menu, or I can be in pain again. For me it's a no brainer, I do my menu!
My body didn't get into its dysfunctional position overnbight and it won’t get out of it overnight either. The Egoscue Method is a common sense approach in a world where common sense doesn't seem to be all that common!
Many Thanks to Susan and Betty of Egoscue Ft. Collins,

The Egoscue Fort Collins Clinic changed my life—drastically. Three years ago I underwent major spinal surgery. After the operation, my surgeon and medical team were thrilled with the results—everything seemed to be healing perfectly. Unfortunately, although I diligently worked the prescribed physical therapy program, my pain level was increasing every month. With each month that went by, there was another activity that I could no longer perform. I was truly terrified—I tried everything (that was legal): physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, pain medications, meditation. You name it—I tried it. Nothing helped.
Then, I stumbled upon Pete's book, Pain Free, in Barnes and Noble. After reading the entire book in two days, I was on the website locating the closest clinic. That day, I called Egoscue, and the world shifted for me. I think Derek could sense the desperation in my voice—I need an appointment right away!

My first session with Betty Porter (known in my home as "The Miracle Worker") was March 27, 2008. At that time I was in unbelievable pain every waking minute of the day. I couldn't hike, bike, play golf, swim, play "Wii Sports" with my teenager, or engage in sports activities of any kind. Additionally, minor household chores (like lifting a half-gallon of milk) varied from pain provoking to just plain impossible. Although my husband and I are avid travelers, trips were excruciating, and felt more like work than fun. I felt that my life was slipping away.
I can't describe the difference that the Egoscue Method has made in my life. I felt better after the first session. The biggest miracle for me was - the relief "held". (If you're in pain you know what this means!). Since that day, I have gotten better every day. I am now golfing with my husband several times a week. We recently returned from a weekend in the mountains during which I biked every day (and enjoyed it!). I can walk, hike, dance, travel with my family—all things that were "off limits" to me as recently as four months ago. (Unfortunately, my family has also figured out that I am now capable of once again completing basic household chores).
Here's the biggest thing—I can look forward to feeling even better next month than I do now! With Betty, Susan, and Derek's help I am looking forward to being in better shape than ever. Life is opening up for me. Thank you, Egoscue!

If you could have seen me before I discovered The Egoscue Method, you would understand why I say that Egoscue gave me back my life. You see, up to the time I was introduced to Egoscue I was trying valiantly and ultimately unsuccessfully to avoid hip replacement surgery. Part of my self-designed program was to keep moving because I believed stagnation was an enemy of osteoarthritis. So, I walked every day enduring pain and, of course, compromising my posture as I twisted my body to relieve the pain. When I was nearly at the end of my rope I was blessed to meet someone who recognized my need and introduced me to The Egoscue Method.
Long story shortened: I began Egoscue Therapy and soon received relief. Never was I led to believe that Egoscue could prevent hip replacement surgery; I had waited too long for that to be possible. But I was assured it would get me back on my feet more quickly after surgery. So I went into surgery with a promise to return to Egoscue three months later. Somehow during those three months I got sidetracked. I went to traditional physical therapy at the suggestion of my surgeon. When I came away from an appointment for the second time hurting more than when I had gone in I decided it was past time to go back to Egoscue. Five days after my first post-op Egoscue menu I was walking without my cane! I still had a long way to go, but my diligence and Egoscues "magic" has made me a graduate now on a maintenance menu. I understand that to reach and maintain optimum mobility will take a life-long commitment. But to be pain free exactly 18 months after my surpery and feeling the best I've felt in my 71 years has made it all worth it! At the risk of being obnoxious, I tell everyone who will listen about what Egoscue has done for me and what it could do for them. I am truly blessed, truly grateful.

I have been using the Egoscue method since April 25, 2005. I want to tell Pete and everyone at Egoscue, and everyone who knows nothing about Egoscue, that the Egoscue method "saved my life."
More than that, the Egoscue method continues to enlighten me about my body and the mind/body connection and all the millions of inter-relationships between the parts of the human body, which I do not begin to fully understand, but which have an impact on my health and well-being during every minute of every day that I am alive.
I visited Betty at the Denver/Broomfield clinic on April 25, 2005 and have been using Egoscue online since then.
Thank you Pete.
